Brigette Manton -  “Sunshine and Showers”

Words and Photos: Lesley Vanezis

On a blustery February 17th, Bromsgrove Flower club welcomed Brigette Manton to our first meeting of the year. 42 members and 20 visitors were present. Brigette’s title of “Sunshine and Showers” was very appropriate for the afternoon!

For her first design she gave us sunshine using a terracotta pot, yellow carnations, yellow tulips, red gerberas and a variety of foliage, topped with an orange raffia-covered ring. Thunder and lightning was next, with manipulated palm leaves, white lilies, yellow carnations and purple Lisianthus. For red sky, Brigette used stunning deep red roses, pink Gerberas, pink tulips, and Prunus. Using white ‘Avalanche’ roses, purple Lisianthus, Gypsophila and grasses arranged in silver metal containers, Brigette brought rain. Whirlwind was next with woven twigs, Chinese lanterns, lilies, roses, Gerberas and Lisianthus. The final arrangement was a rainbow, using coloured sticks with various flowers and foliage arranged in two wellington boots.

The six arrangements were then won in the raffle.
