Chris Harten

There was a bit of a drama at our club meeting this month! Due to unforseen circumstances, our booked demonstrator was not able to come to the club meeting, but we weren't advised on the day!! Did we panic? NO! Our own honorary club member, Chris Harten, stepped in at the last minute to carry out the demonstration. Some of our committee members went out to buy flowers for Chris to use. Despite having had no time to prepare, and without first seeing what materials she had to use, Chris was able to produce 5 arrangements using the originally intended title ‘Colourful Creations’. During her demonstration, Chris gave a running commentary sharing useful tips and her extensive knowledge of plants. Club members were so impressed with not only Chris's ability to create varying designs employing a range of skills and techniques, but also her composure under pressure, that they gave her a standing ovation!

We extend our gratitude to Chris for stepping in and also for running a plant stall, and to Caroline and Jane from cjjewellery for their return visit to our club selling their wonderful range of handbags and jewellery. And lastly, we must formally thank club member Suzie Carter, who whizzed home and produced containers, floral foam, mechanics and tools, and a wonderful array of foliage for Chris to use within minutes, as if by magic, thus saving the day!!
